For Children two years old until Kindergarten

Bloomers is a community of families and teachers who seek to embrace and cultivate all the joys of childhood. Children need opportunities to actively explore art, music, math, science, storytelling and literacy as part of the world they live in. We recognize that play is beneficial to the learning process, but equally important, play provides pure enjoyment in the moment.

Carolyn Carpenter

Hi, I’m Carolyn Carpenter, owner, director, and teacher at Bloomers Preschool. I have been an early childhood educator since 1989. I have a B.A. in Early Childhood Administration. I have been influenced by Bev Bos, Vivian Gussin Paley, Joseph Cornell, and my own memories of childhood and first ‘school’ experiences. I am a proud member of the SEIU Child Care Providers union 521, a member of the Organizing Committee and an advocate for children, families and early childhood providers. I am a mother of four, and have taught and nurtured hundreds of kids

Carrie Carpenter

Hi, I’m Carrie Carpenter. I was born and raised in a family child care, and named “Bloomers” in 2005, after suffragist and abolitionist Amelia Jenks Bloomers, whom I portrayed at a Living History Day. I attended Beloit College in Wisconsin where I graduated with a BA in Sociology and a BA in Critical Identity Studies. I come from a family of educators, and will began working full time in the summer of 2018. I have years of experience as a substitute teacher at Bloomers. In my free time I enjoy reading comics, playing board games, writing, and spending time with my cats and little brother.
